Moon Howling

2025

26.06

29.06

“A protracted howl broke the silence of the night.
Ooooooooo, oooooooooo, it echoed through the forest, as if the call of the wolf was breaking through the darkness. The sound stretched into the distance, a sign of loneliness and ancient wilderness that made the trees and rocks tremble.”

Three days full of dark sounds, surrounded by wild nature.

The stage in the forest, framed by spruce trees and flowing water. Almost 1000 meters above everyday life, we celebrate a festival where others go on vacation - with 15 bands, shows, stands and a program.

Look forward to camping, hot showers and cold spring water straight from the mountains. Relax in the chill-out tippi, bathing lake, hot tub or barrel sauna before the night continues in the party barn. The finest regional beer and local cuisine are served directly from our restaurant.

Occult music, untouched nature and we howl in the moonlight.

Location

The wild Michel in the heart of the Black Forest

Wild, warm, homely, different - a place for those who think differently.

At an altitude of almost 1000 meters, surrounded by deep green forests, an ancient Black Forest farm awoke from its hibernation in 2021.

With creative vision and a zest for action, a hostel was created for anyone looking for a place to rest and relax away from everyday life.

A cult venue for events, concerts and festivals - with a restaurant, campsite and other accommodation surrounded by the dark beauty of the Black Forest.

Black Metal, Post-Metal and Hardcore from (FR)

With over 800 concerts worldwide as well as appearances at the most renowned extreme music festivals (Hellfest, Roskilde, Copenhell, Summer Breeze, Brutal Assault, Roadburn, Psycho Las Vegas, ...), one EP and six albums, CELESTE is today considered one of the most important bands of the famous “French Avant-Garde Black-Metal” scene.

For 15 years, this French band has been creating hybrid music that is rich in influences - as difficult to define as it is unmistakable. Through the skillful fusion of black metal, post-metal and hardcore, CELESTE have created a unique sound: powerful, oppressive and dark.

The Hirsch Effekt

Art-Core/Progressive metal from Hanover (DE)

One year after The Hirsch Effekt finished their tour in support of their highly acclaimed sixth album URIAN, the progressive trio are once again embarking on an extensive tour of Germany.

In the meantime, the band has not only shared the stage with genre greats such as Leprous, Karnivool and Better Lovers, but has also left a lasting impression in non-German-speaking countries as main support for the Australian progressive metal band Caligula's Horse on an extensive European tour. In addition to previously unperformed material from the latest album, the audience can look forward to many highlights from the band's extensive oeuvre, which can now look back on sixteen years of band history - performed as usual with energy and a powerful sound.

Vorga - Dystopian black metal from the cosmos

Vorga have been heading towards the void since 2016 - with one mission: to capture the awe and absolute hopelessness that comes over you when you look into the night sky.

Musically, the band combines traditional black and blackened death metal with modern production and aesthetics, without getting lost in old patterns. Their futuristic-dystopian sound, paired with UV corpse paint and a haunting light show, makes each of their live experiences unforgettable. Once you've seen Vorga, you won't forget them in a hurry!

Black Bile

Black Bile

post-doom / doom from Lorient (FR)

Black Bile laid the foundations for their sound with their first EP The Substance - but that wasn't enough for them. Two years later, now as a quintet, they ventured even deeper into their dark universe with their debut album L'Oratoire. The doom-heavy core remains, but the band expands its repertoire: saturated vocals, blast beats and heavier riffs drive the sound towards post-metal.

Named after a real forest that was once used for cult purposes, L'Oratoire embodies the essence of Black Bile: introspective, atmospheric music that deals with dream worlds, the transience of the body and the spiritual journey after death. “We see this album as a personal refuge for the listener - a place of contemplation and immersion.”

After a two and a half year live break, during which the band dedicated themselves to composition and further development, they are now returning to the stage with renewed energy.

With a fresh sound, a new drummer (welcome, Alain!) and occasional vocals, the unmistakable spirit of DDENT remains intact as they explore new sonic spheres. Get ready for an intense live experience - DDENT are back and will give it their all at Heavy Michel Days 2025!

Their intense live performances are an emotional force where brutal riffs meet profound lyrics about identity, representation and trauma.

lo-f experimental post-doom from Paris (FR)

WuW - Monumental post-doom between chaos and beauty.

With WuW, brothers Benjamin and Guillaume Colin create a dark, hypnotic soundscape between post-metal, doom and drone, inspired by classical music and free jazz. Their third album L'Orchaostre is a five-part doom symphony - monumental, oppressive and full of intense emotions.

With massive riffs, funeralistic drums and booming synthesizers, WuW tell of a post-apocalyptic journey, permeated by despair and enraptured beauty.

A storm of sound that gets deep under your skin.

Thantifaxarath
Tantifaxath.webp

Thantifaxath

Avantgarde Black Metal from Toronto (CA)

Thantifaxath is surrounded by an aura of mystery: the members remain anonymous, the band's name comes from the Kabbalistic tree of life and means “great ghoul”. Instead of providing explanations, the band prefers to let their music do the talking.

Often described as avant-garde black metal, their sound defies easy categorization. Thantifaxath create a dissonant, mind-altering soundscape that touches on black, thrash, death and doom metal as well as psychedelic extremes - and constantly pushes the boundaries of metal.

Despite all the secrecy, Thantifaxath are on the road a lot: eight North American and one European tour, appearances at festivals such as the Maryland Deathfest, Decibel Metal & Beer Fest or Messe Des Morts bear witness to this.

FAQ

How many visitors are expected?

We expect 400 visitors at the Heavy Michel Days 2025 - Moon Howling.

Will there be several stages?

There is a main stage on the festival grounds in the forest. The after-show party takes place in our party barn.

Is the festival site always accessible?

The festival area is open on Thursday from 16:00 to 23:30 and Friday and Saturday from 16:00 to 00:30. Before 4 p.m. there are lots of activities on our grounds so that you don't get bored.

From when to when do the bands play?

The bands play on Thursdays from approx. 17:30 to 23:00 and Friday/Saturday from approx. 17:30 to 24:00.

What is the camping situation like?

Your camping ticket is already included in your festival ticket. This applies to tent camping. You can choose your campsite freely on the camping meadow - a camp is also possible. However, our space is limited, so you cannot camp next to your car or bring large items.

If you arrive by caravan, you will need a separate caravan ticket. The caravan site is equipped with electricity and running water.

Is it possible to travel by public transport?

We are an old Black Forest farm in Linach near Furtwangen. In the middle of beautiful nature, but somewhat secluded. It is possible to come by bus, but it needs to be well planned as there are only on-call buses at weekends.

It is best to form car pools and come by car.

Are open fires and barbecues allowed?

Open fires are strictly prohibited on the tent meadow. You can barbecue in the caravan area. For all tent campers, there are two public fire pits with large grills that can be used day and night.

Due to official regulations, only small camping gas stoves can be tolerated on the campsite!

Can I bring my own speakers?

Small speakers can be brought along. But loud continuous sound is not allowed. If the music stops on the main stage, it also stops on the campsite or is turned down to room volume.

This is very important to us, because our neighbors also want to sleep.

Is there a night's rest at the campsite?

We do not have a strict night's rest. You can talk, party and listen to music all night long - but all at a low volume, maximum room volume.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are very welcome here. However, dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the site and you should remember to bring poop bags to dispose of your dog's waste in the bins provided.

What is the toilet & shower situation like?

Festival guests can use our camping sanitary facilities as normal. There will also be mobile toilets on the festival site.

Is there band merchandise to buy?

Yes, there will be an extra merch area.
